General
The Millennium® Elevator Control System is a state-of-the-art high-speed
microprocessor-based elevator control system that continuously collects
and evaluates traffic demand patterns for each individual elevator
car and the entire elevator system. Based on real time events when
compared to predicted traffic conditions and anticipated system demands,
the Millennium® Elevator Control System automatically modifies its
dispatching parameters to optimize system operation.
Individual elements of the Millennium® Elevator Control System (Group
Supervisory Panel, Car Control System, Motion Control System and Drive
Control System) were created to interface in a cohesive manner to
provide an elevator system with unmatched ride quality characteristics
while exceeding the most stringent performance requirements. |

 |
Millennium® Group Supervisory Panel
Operating under standard serial communications protocol, the Millennium®
Group Supervisory Panel constantly monitors and analyzes changing
traffic demands to predict the future movement of the entire elevator
system and to create a real time traffic pattern scenario. Based in
part on the following factors: (a) elevator status, (b) elevator direction
of travel and hoistway position, (c) hall call assignments, (d) car
call patterns, (e) door position, (f) stopping parameters, and (g)
systems conditions, the Millennium® Group Supervisory Panel automatically
recognizes any fluctuations in traffic conditions and immediately
adjusts the system operation.
Combining real time conditions, historical traffic patterns and predicted
system demand, the Millennium® Group Supervisory Control System continually
creates an arrival time prediction diagram for each elevator car and
constantly calculates the shortest waiting time when making a hall
call assignment. |
|
 |
 |
Millennium® Car Control System
Utilizing sophisticated 32-bit multiprocessor technology and advanced
distributed controller design concepts, the Millennium® Car Control
System uses a distributed control network to provide an extremely
powerful and incredibly flexible elevator control system. Operating
under the Millnet® communications protocol (interconnected communication
via high-speed serial data links), the Millennium® Car Control System
continuously distributes control to specific sections of the elevator
car (elevator car top, elevator car operating panel, elevator hall
fixtures, etc.) to provide superior system performance. |
|
 |
 |
Millennium® Motion Control System
The Millennium® Motion Control System provides a digital, closed loop,
microprocessor-based drive system. By utilizing state-of-the-art Variable
Voltage, Variable Frequency (VVVF) or Silicon Controlled Rectifier
(SCR) technology, the customized drive software specifically developed
for the Millennium® Motion Control System allows for extremely tight
low speed control and exceptional high speed regulation regardless
of travel direction or loading conditions. The Millennium® Motion
Control System continuously compares real time position and velocity
feedback parameters against the optimum speed pattern created by the
Drive Control System to constantly adjust the elevator system for
optimal performance. |
|
 |
 |
Millennium® Drive Control System
The Millennium® Drive Control System uses a digital speed control
system that enables improved performance, long-term stability and
enhanced reliability of the entire elevator system. Each time an elevator
car makes a trip within the hoistway, the Millennium® Drive Control
System determines the distance to the destination landing and then
calculates the optimum speed pattern for that trip. Since the position,
speed and direction of an elevator car are continuously monitored
through digital encoder feedback, the Millennium Drive Control System
can adjust the speed pattern profile to provide exceptionally smooth
acceleration/deceleration, notably precise leveling accuracy and extremely
consistent full speed operation.
Once the initial adjustment parameters of the elevator system are
completed, the Millennium® Drive Control System periodically evaluates
performance conditions during normal operation and makes necessary
adjustments as the characteristics of the elevator components change.
