Function

Application Code

Handrail safety guard Stops the escalator immediately when a hand or other object is caught in the handrail inlet.
Emergency stop button Stops the escalator immediately when the button is pressed. (Equipped with a preventative accidental triggering cover)
Skirt guard obstruction device Stops the escalator if foreign matter is caught between the skirt guard and steps.
Broken drive-chain safety device Stops the escalator if the drive-chain stretches or breaks and prevents the steps from dropping.
Broken step chain safety device Stops the escalator if the step chain stretches excessively or breaks.
Electric circuit protection device Provided with an automatic circuit breaker to protect the escalator circuitry and power supply parts.
Electromagnetic brake Brakes the motor smoothly by a spring force action if the power fails or any safety device is activated.
Step upthrust safety device Stops the escalator if the drive chain stretches excessively or breaks and also prevents the steps from dropping.
Skirt guards The guards are coated with slippery fluorine-contained resin to enhance safety.
Fire shutter interlocked device Stops the escalator when interlocked fire shutter, which is provided near the escalator, is activated.
Demarcation line Yellow synthetic resin demarcation lines are provided on the front and side edges of the escalator tread panel in order to prevent passengers from stepping on the edges between adjacent steps and between the step and skirt guard. The demarcation lines at both sides are raised higher than the tread surface.
Reversal protection device Stops the escalator for safety if it operates reversely from the preset direction.
Governor Stops the escalator if it should go over speed or unintentional reversal of the travel direction occurs.
Comb impact switch Stops the escalator if foreign matter is caught between a step and the comb or if a step collides with the comb, so that a horizontal or vertical force is exerted along comb plate.
Handrail speed delay sensing device Stops the escalator if the handrail speed becomes slower than the step speed by more than the preset value.
Step sag safety device Monitors the escalator steps for abnormal sagging and stops the escalator before a sagged step meshes with a comb plate.
Missing step device Monitors for a missed step and stops the escalator before missed portion gets to the comb.
Tandem operation interlock Should any one of the escalators in a continuous sequence stop, all the interlocked escalators are stopped. These escalators are electrically interlocked to run in the same direction.
Comb plate switch Stops the escalator if foreign matter is caught between a step and the comb or if a step collides with the comb, so that a horizontal force is exerted along comb plate.
Step obstruction device Stops the escalator if the step is obstructed anywhere along its path of descent.

  Work By Others

  Construction Work
  1. Cutouts and holes for the installation of escalators and the installation of support beams. Installation of a hook on the ceiling or the provision of a sleeve hole in the ceiling to hoist the deadweight of the escalator trusses and support beams.
  2. Waterproofing work for the truss pit at the lower end of the escalator.
  3. Retouching and finishing of the areas adjacent to the escalator after installation.
  4. Installation of the parapets around the escalator, wedge guards and safety provisions to prevent a fall.
  5. Exterior finishing of the installed escalator and installation of lights on the exterior cladding. (This work can be performed by Fujitec as an option, if necessary, with an additional charge.)
  6. Installation of fireproof shutters and sprinklers.
  7. The work to make an entrance and to secure an access path to carry the truss into the building and the restoration work.
  8. Preparation of Fujitec's station at the work site and the securing of a storage area for our materials.

  Electrical Work
  1. Lighting and main power supply (including ground wires, wiring for supervisory panel, etc.) up to the control panel in the machine room.
  2. Piping (conduits) and wiring from the escalator to fire shutters.
  3. Lighting switch in the lower step.
  4. Power for the escalator installation and adjustment work.
  5. Emergency light.

Safety Precautions to be taken around the Escalators
  1. Wedge guards shall be provided under the floor ceiling at the point crossing with the escalator (including the soffit panel of the adjacent escalator) to prevent anyone or anything from catching in the wedges.
  2. If there is an opening between the escalator and the building floor, a barrier plate or a guard shall be placed to prevent a fall.
  3. If there is a clearance of 200mm or over between the escalators or between the escalator and the floor opening in the building, a safety net shall be provided.
  4. Sign boards/notice boards or public announcement equipment shall be provided in order to prohibit children from playing around the escalators.
